Employer ABC observes the following holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.  The CEO may authorize additional holidays and extend the length of any holiday.  The dates of holiday observance will be announced by Administration.

Employees required to work on any of the observed holidays listed above will have the hours worked, at the supervisor’s discretion, charged either to annual leave, sick leave, or other appropriate leave.

Holidays will be observed on the calendar day on which each holiday falls except:

·         A holiday falling on Saturday will be observed on the preceding Friday.

·         A holiday falling on Sunday will be observed on the following Monday.

·         Employees regularly scheduled to work a seven-day-per-week rotation will observe Saturday and Sunday holidays on the day they fall.

Every reasonable effort should be made to allow employees to observe religious holidays.  This can be done by allowing employees to substitute an observed holiday for a religious holiday, or by using personal leave, annual leave, or leave without pay.

Employees must be in pay status the last scheduled day of work prior to the holiday and the first scheduled day of work after the holiday in order to receive holiday pay.

For part time employees, holiday pay is pro-rated based on the previous four weeks of employment.
