Pay Adjustments

MANAGERIAL EMPLOYEES APPOINTED HIGHER SALARY RANGES

A managerial employee appointed to a temporary position is treated as a new hire for the purpose of determining salary.

When a managerial employee is appointed to a permanent position with a higher salary range than his or her current position, the employee’s immediate supervisor will determine any salary increase.  Personnel must approve all such salary adjustments.

Pay adjustments may not result in a salary that exceeds the maximum of the salary range.

MANAGERIAL EMPLOYEES IN A TITLE RE-ALLOCATED TO A NEW SALARY RANGE

A managerial employee shall receive a salary adjustment as determined by his/her immediate supervisor.  Personnel must approve all such salary adjustments.

DEMOTED MANAGERIAL EMPLOYEES

A managerial employee demoted to a position with a lower salary range shall not receive a salary greater than the maximum of the new range.

Demoted managerial employees in a new position for less than six months will not be eligible for an annual performance-based salary increase.

Determination of salaries for demoted employees shall be in compliance with tenure rights.

A demoted managerial employee who has a salary greater than the maximum of the range of the demoted position, shall not receive any further salary increases until the maximum of the salary range exceeds the salary at the time of demotion.  If the employee is contractually guaranteed salary increases, such increases will be permitted.  The employee’s salary will then be red-circled until the maximum of the salary range is greater than the employee’s current salary.
