Payroll Deductions

Tax Deductions & Exemptions

Federal and State laws require employers to withhold taxes from wages. Most employees are subject to Federal Income Tax, State ABC Income tax, and Social Security deductions. Deductions are made based on information furnished by the employee on the W-4 form. Employees have the responsibility to keep Payroll advised of changes in tax exemptions, marital status, and home address.

Foreign nationals may be able to claim exemption from the Federal Income Tax under terms of the tax treaty with their country of citizenship. Payroll can provide the necessary forms.

Voluntary Payroll Deductions

Employees may voluntarily elect payroll deductions for a variety of services, including the benefit plans.
