Rest Periods/Meal Periods


Employees are entitled to one rest period for each three and one-half hours of work each work shift.

A rest period is 15 minutes and occurs at a time designated by the supervisor.

Employees may not accumulate unused rest periods.

Rest periods shall not be forfeited or used in any way to shorten the workday or extend a meal period, except where specifically authorized by the Director of Human Resources.


Employees are entitled to a meal period of 30 minutes no later than five hours and no sooner than four hours from the start of the work shift.
