The Security Supervisor is responsible for protecting all Company ABC employees and property and providing customers who visit the Company ABC facility with the information they require.  The Supervisor is also responsible for the supervision of all Company ABC Security Guards, the cleanliness of the guardhouse and the sale and account for public pay phone cards.

In order to carry out these responsibilities, the Security Supervisor conducts regular checks and foot patrols, verbally helps, directs and interacts with customers and manages the human resources of the Security staff.

The Security Supervisor reports to the Deputy General Manager and receives verbal and written direction and instructions.

There is one position reporting to this position:

  • Security Guard (2): Ensures that the property and staff of Company ABC are secure and provides information and direction to customers.  The Security Supervisor creates the Security Guards work schedules and resolves disagreements between co-workers.

There are other positions throughout Company ABC that provide direction or guidance to the Security Supervisor:

  • Administrative Officer: The Administrative Officer helps the security supervisor with the requisition of work tools and informs the Supervisor of new changes to the security system.


Freedom to Act:

This work of this position originates from the following departments:

  • Sales Department (delivery notes)
  • Technical Service (delivery notes)
  • Production Unit (delivery notes)
  • Administration (public pay phone cards)

Completed work is sent to the Administrative Officer and is reviewed and approved by the Administrative Officer and the Secretary.

This position has the following procedures or manuals made available to the incumbent:

This position encounters no frequent problems.

This position does not encounter any difficult problems

This position has access to a supervisor in order to resolve the following problem(s):

  • Feedback on spot checks regarding the security guards e.g. drunk on duty, sleeping on duty and coming late for duty

This position does not have any regular internal or external contacts outside the department.


  • Ensure the supervision of the security guards
  • Ensure the safety of Company ABC property and staff
  • Provide Company ABC customers with information and directions
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the security gate house and public telephone booth
  • Responsible for the financial accountability of the sale of the public pay phone cards

This position provides reports to the following individuals, departments and/or external contacts on the following basis:

  • Supervisory Report - Deputy General Manager - Appraisal of the security guards performance – Annually


This position requires the incumbent to open and close the gate barrier (barrier weighs about 150 kg.) on a daily basis constantly during a 12-hour workday.

The incumbent is exposed to severe weather condition, such as rain.  Rains normally last for 2-3 hours during the rainy season.

Severe mental stress is caused by rare encounters with armed robbers and being held at gunpoint.  The incumbent is required to occasionally deal with difficult and rude customers.
