Workshops and Seminars

Policy Rationale

Organizational Development offers a variety of programs and services to assist employees with personal and professional development.

Program Scope

Workshops and seminars include:

·         Management and supervisory development.

·         Work skills development.

·         Human relations skills.

·         Personal development.

·         Life issues.

·         Health and safety.

All employees are eligible to participate in the workshops and seminars with supervisory approval. Certain programs may have special prerequisites or eligibility restrictions.

Supervisory approval is needed to register for workshops and seminars. Supervisors should permit employee participation in programs where employee interest is apparent or the supervisor sees a need.

Time Away

Training and development programs are normally offered during normal working hours. Hours spent in workshops and seminars are considered hours worked/paid.

Employees can register for programs by submitting a completed registration form.  Forms are processed in the order in which they are received.

Programs sponsored by Organizational Development are offered without cost to employees, including course materials. Fees for specific programs are charged to the employee's department.

Departments will not be charged if Organizational Development is notified of a cancellation within  working days of the program. Departments will be charged the full program fee if cancellations are received less than  days before the program begins.  Departments will be charged half the program fee if employees withdraw from the program.
